FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fort Wayne police said a child was struck by an SUV driven by a woman with a suspended license on Sherman Boulevard near Fourth Street Friday morning.
Police said just before 7 a.m., a 12-year-old girl tried to cross Sherman Boulevard in the 1400 block was hit by a GMC Jimmy headed south. The girl was listed in fair condition at the scene and taken to local hospital.
The officer at the scene said that speed did not appear to be a factor, based on a witness account.
FWPD spokesperson Raquel Foster said the SUV was towed and driver was cited for driving while having a suspended license. Foster said she does not expect the driver to face any other additional charges.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
