FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating an accident on North Clinton Street that killed one person early Sunday morning.

According to police, around 3:20 a.m., officers arrived on North Clinton at Grove Street and found an adult male, later identified as Richard May, 25, of Bluffton, lying in the street.

Witnesses told police a Jeep was driving southbound when the driver and May, the passenger, were involved in some type of argument. At some point, May jumped out of the vehicle and was struck by a passing car that was following behind the Jeep.

May was pronounced dead at the scene.

Autopsy reports said the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.

The driver of the passing car was not injured and police said alcohol was not involved with the second car.

The crash remains under investigation by the FACT team.
