NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Indiana State Troopers have responded to number slid offs and vehicle crashes on the snow and ice covered roads throughout the 11 county coverage area of the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne.
Officials said a Fort Wayne escaped serious injury in one of the slid off accidents.
Officials said a Jeep tried to pass another car on State Road 8, between Albion and Kendallville in Noble County, on Friday morning. The Jeep slid off the roadway and into a utility pole. The Jeeps rear axle was separated from the vehicle as a result of the impact.
Message from the Indiana State Police:
The State Police remind motorists that the weather alone does not cause crashes, driving behavior does. As such, motorists are urged to alter their driving behavior according to existing road and weather conditions. They are also reminded to not over drive their abilities or the abilities of their vehicles. Your vehicle may have four wheel drive, but it does not have four wheel stop.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
