NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - The Noble County Sheriff's Department investigated a two vehicle crash involving a car and semi west of Brimfield Thursday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the crash on U.S. 6 just west of State Road 9, according to a department report.

The report said a car driven by John McCoy, 60, Albion, was traveling east when he went left-of-center for an unknown reason. McCoy's vehicle struck a westbound semi-trailer on the side. McCoy's vehicle bounced off the rear axles and away from the trailer.

McCoy was pinned in his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency workers. He was air-lifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with broken ribs and a broken thigh bone. His condition was not provided in the report.

The driver of the semi, Sukhdev Sohi, 65, Brampton Ontario, and an unidentified passenger were not hurt.

U.S. 6 was closed while emergency crews investigated the crash.
