FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Indiana State Police said one lane of Interstate 69 northbound at mile marker 290 is back open due to a multi vehicle crash.
Indiana State Police said the interstate was back open after 12 p.m. but traffic was still slow in the area.
Around 8:40 a.m. Indiana State Police say two semi's and a pickup truck collided in a chain reaction crash; officials said the crash was directly related to an earlier semi fire which slowed traffic significantly in the area. One semi ended up off the road an in a field due to the accident.
An officer on the scene told NewsChannel 15 that one person sustained minor injuries. It is not known which vehicle the injured person was in.
INDOT was diverting northbound traffic onto U.S. 224 which is exit 286.
The multi vehicle crash happened just hours after a semi caught fire at mile marker 294 in the northbound lane. The semi fire happened just before 7:00 a.m. and backed up traffic for miles. That fire closed down the interstate for about 30 minutes.
No one was injured in that fire.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
