EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Evansville authorities say a couple in their 70s was killed along with the 24-year-old pickup driver when the truck he was driving slid on a curve and flipped over a guardrail and crashed into a home.
Vanderburgh County Coroner Annie Groves told the Evansville Courier & Press the people killed inside the home were 75-year-old Homer Merriweather and 74-year-old Lela Merriweather. The driver of the pickup was identified as 24-year-old Thomas Hodgson of Newburgh.
Evansville police Sgt. Jim Magary says the accident that occurred shortly after 2:15 a.m. Sunday is still under investigation. He says the preliminary investigation indicates the couple in the home was asleep at the time of the accident.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
