LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident after a van and motorcycle collided near LaGrange Wednesday night.

According to a department crash report, around 7:15 p.m. police were called to an area near the 4100 block of County Road East 450 South in Johnson Township for a vehicle accident.

Police said a driver of a van, Lois Boker, 72, Sturgis, Michigan, turned into a residence and then backed out into the roadway to continue traveling east. Boker did not see an approaching motorcycle driven by Chase Scott, 22, Howe.

Scott attempted to stop his motorcycle and lost control. Before impact, Scott dropped the bike down before putting down substantial skid marks before colliding with Boker's van, according to the report.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaGrange County Coroner's Office. The report said he suffered injuries from sliding into the back of the van, including severe head trauma.

The report did not say if Scott was wearing a helmet.

Boker was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police.
