WILMINGTON, Ohio (WANE) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a Fort Wayne man Monday evening. The crash occurred just outside of Wilmington, Ohio, about 50 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

According to a state police report, around 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers from the Wilmington Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle driven by Joseph Noble, 46, Fort Wayne.

Officers deployed stop sticks during the pursuit on State Road 73 just north of State Road 350, according to the report. Noble swerved to avoid the sticks and lost control of his vehicle, traveling left of center and striking another vehicle driven by Sonja Cayaditto, 26, New Vienna, Ohio. Cayaditto's vehicle was stopped in traffic due to the oncoming pursuit, according to the report.

The impact of the collision forced Cayaditto's vehicle into a third vehicle stopped behind her. That vehicle was driven by 42-year-old James Farhay, Hillsboro, Ohio.

Noble was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cayaditto was transported to a hospital by air ambulance and was expected to be released, according to the report.

Farhay was not injured.

The report said evidence of alcohol consumption was discovered at the scene and speed was also a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
