Update: driver in fatal crash had .18% BAC

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - UPDATE Thursday, Oct. 4: Officials have revealed the identity of the driver of the Jeep in the fatal accident in Fort Wayne early Saturday morning.

According to officials, Kevin Nader, 19, was driving a Jeep south on Bluffton Road when he crossed the center line and hit a Volkswagen Beetle head on. Documents show Nader had a blood alcohol content of .18 percent.

The driver of the Beetle, Melissa Aschliman, died as a result of the crash.

As of Thursday afternoon, charges had not been filed in the case.

The Allen County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the crash.

One person has been killed in a two car accident on the 11,000 block of Bluffton Road, just south of West Ferguson Road at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Police said a jeep was driving south on Bluffton Road when the driver crossed the center line hitting a Volkswagen Beetle head on.

The driver of the Beetle, Melissa Aschliman, 43, of Auburn, was killed in the crash. Cause of death was determined as blunt force trauma.

NewsChannel 15's Randy Spieth was at the scene and told us that officers said the Jeep was flipped upside down and on fire when they arrived.

Police said the male driver of the Jeep escaped with minor injuries.

The Allen County Sheriff's Department said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Bluffton Road was closed between Ferguson and Winters for a couple of hours. It was reopened at 9 a.m.
