FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - One person is in critical condition following an accident early Sunday morning.
It happened at 2:56 a.m. at the intersection of W. Main Street and Fairfield Avenue.
According to Fort Wayne police, a Buick traveled southbound on Fairfield while a taxi cab headed east on Main Street. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. It's unknown which vehicle was at fault. Investigators have reason to believe alcohol was a factor in the crash based on evidence found at the scene.
The taxi cab was transporting three people at the time of the accident. The front seat passenger, Sabrina E. Larson Bushlack, 21, of Mapleton, Minnesota, was taken to the hospital in serious condition then downgraded to critical condition. Bushlack remained in critical condition on Monday morning.
Everyone else in the cab was treated and released.
The driver of the Buick ran from the scene on foot. Two passengers of that vehicle were listed in fair condition.
Police are still looking for the woman who ran away.
"One of our biggest concerns right now is that, that individual might have very serious injuries, very critical injuries and she might be in need of medical aid," FWPD spokesperson Raquel Foster said.
Traffic at the intersection of West Main Street and Fairfield Avenue was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
