Driver avoids deer but not utility pole

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Allen County police investigated a one vehicle accident on Diebold Road near Clinton and Dupont late Sunday night.

Around 11 p.m., police received a call of a car into a utility pole.

Officers on scene told NewsChannel 15's Rod Hissong the driver told them he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and then smacked a utility pole.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The road was briefly closed until crews could remove the car from the area.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
