HAMILTON, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle accident that injured a man early Sunday morning in Hamilton.

A DNR report said around 2:30 Sunday morning, officers responded to an accident at Belfountaine Road and Woodard Street. An investigation showed Tyrone Kumler, 51, Hamilton left the downtown area with a female passenger in a Polaris Ranger side-by-side type off-road vehicle.

The report said Kumler failed to negotiate a turn onto Woodard Steet by turning too early. He drove onto the sidewalk and struck a street lamp post. The impact caused the ORV to roll onto the driver's side, pinning Kumler's leg under the vehicle.

Kumler was transported to Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola and later to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for severe leg and head injuries, according to the report.

The report said alcohol was a factor in the crash. The DNR report said the crash remains under investigation.

The female passenger was not hurt, according to the report.
