NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A Ligonier man was taken to the hospital with leg injuries after he was hit by a car on a Noble County road and thrown from his bicycle into a ditch Thursday morning.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, Jessica Polly, 31, of Rome City, took her eyes off the road for a short time while she was headed east on County Road 1200 North, east of County Road 75 West and when she looked up, she saw a person on a bike.

Police said Polly then hit Adam Tomlinson, 30, of Ligonier, from behind. He was thrown from his bike and landed in the ditch on the south side of the roadway.

Tomlinson was wearing a helmet and other protective gear at the time of the crash. He was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne by Samaritan helicopter for injuries to his left leg.
