FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police said a woman who ran a stop sign in her car and hit an SUV Saturday afternoon was last listed in critical condition.

The crash happened around 2:24 p.m. at the intersection of Trier and Goeglein Roads on the northeast side of the city.

Police crash investigators said a Saab SUV was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection going southbound on Goeglein Road. The Saab then started to drive through the intersection when a 83-year-old woman driving a Buick sedan east on Trier Road didn't stop at the stop sign. The woman's car hit the SUV.

When police arrived the SUV was still in the intersection and the sedan was off the road to the south. The woman driving the car went to a hospital in serious condition and was later downgraded to critical.

The three people in the SUV were in fair condition.

Police said everyone was wearing a seat belt. Weather and alcohol don't appear to be factors in the crash. Names of the drivers weren't released.
