FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne woman made her initial court hearing Wednesday morning for a fatal crash on Fairfield Avenue and Taylor Street Tuesday morning.

Corina Hurtado, 50, has been officially charged with six Felony OWI Charges, two Misdemeanor OWI Endangerment Charges and a Misdemeanor Charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

Fort Wayne police said just after 9 a.m., Hurtado was driving a pickup truck east on Taylor Street. Officials said she hit an unoccupied vehicle at Broadway Street.

Police said while Hurtado was fleeing that crash, she hit a van at Fairfield Avenue.

The driver of the van, 79-year-old Harold E. Bebout, died at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries. The passenger in the van, Starr Bebout, was taken to a local hospital where she remains in serious condition.

Hurtado was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said Hurtado was driving while intoxicated and her blood-alcohol content was .17%. She also tested positive for the presence of cocaine.
