ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- A section of Interstate 469 was shut down for about 20 minutes after a vehicle caught fire just after 3 p.m. Monday.
According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, while headed east on I-469, a driver pulled over under the State Road 1 overpass when he noticed smoke coming from his vehicle. Police said once he got out, he saw sparks coming from underneath and soon the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.
The highway was already down to one lane due to construction in the area, but emergency crews closed the remaining lane for about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
The driver told police he was not sure what caused the fire since he had not hit anything or had any other obvious problems with his vehicle.
No injuries were reported and traffic in the area is now back to normal.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
