FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A combination of snow and black ice caused dangerous road conditions on area roads on Thursday morning.
Fort Wayne dispatchers said several accidents have been reported along the interstates around Fort Wayne and the northern part of Allen County.
A crash involving semis occurred near mile marker 314 on I-469 in the northbound lanes. One semi was pointed southbound after hitting the median wall.
The I-469 ramp onto southbound I-69 was closed for a while because of a semi crash. It's now open again.
INDOT crews are working to put salt on the highway.
The most adverse conditions appear to be in northern Allen County. Counties to the north of Fort Wayne are seeing heavy bands of lake effect snow which is causing additional problems through Noble, DeKalb, Steuben, and LaGrange counties.
Motorists should slow down when driving due to falling temperatures and previously wet roads from Wednesday's rain.
