LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A Kendallville man is under arrest after police say he hit and killed a man riding his bicycle.

Just after 5:00 Thursday morning, the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department was called out to the area of 4685 W. 700 S.  When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Wilmer Herschberger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told officers that the driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Zane Scott, continued driving away without stopping to help Herschberger or calling 911.

Investigators say that Herschberger and Scott were both west bound on CR 700 S. about one mile from Topeka when the accident happened.

Later in the morning around 9:00, officers located a vehicle that matched the description of what witnesses described as a blue van.  Officers matched the damage that would be consistent with the crash and arrested Scott.

He is preliminary charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and reckless homicide.
