Driver in crash had BAC of more than .15

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A two-vehicle crash led to a drinking and driving arrest Saturday evening, according to police.

Police said Cody Smith, 22, of Angola, was driving eastbound on US 20, west of 600 W. at around 6:30 p.m. when he drove left of the center line and hit Linda Wegener, 57, of Shipshewana, who was driving westbound. Both vehicles lost control and drove off of the road.

Officials said US 20 was shut down for around 30 minutes while emergency crews cleaned up the scene.

Wegener and her passenger Jeffery Wegener, 52, of Shipshewana, were both taken to Cameron Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Police said Smith did not sustain any injuries after the crash. He was taken to the Steuben County Jail for suspicious of drunk driving.

According to police, Smith was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and Operating While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of at least .15.
