PAYNE, Ohio (WANE) The motorcycle passenger involved in the motorcycle-van collision Monday morning, Lonnie Leverton, was upgraded from critical to serious condition on Tuesday. No information on the condition of the driver, Edward Leverton, was released at that time.
Ohio State Patrol said a van failed to yield at the intersection of SR49 and SR114 and struck a motorcycle with two occupants around 11:20 a.m. on Monday.
The driver of the motorcycle, Edward Leverton, was thrown off his motorcycle and onto the van's windshield. The passenger of the motorcycle, Lonnie Leverton, was also thrown off.
Neither was wearing a helmet and officials said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Edward Leverton was airlifted directly to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Lonnie Leverton was transported to Van Wert County Hospital then airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Both were in critical condition at the time.
The driver of the van, William Hoverman, was uninjured.
The crash is still under investigation.
