VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) - Ohio State Police investigated a crash involving two semi-trucks on U.S. 30 near Van Wert Wednesday morning.

According to a state police report, around 10 a.m., a training semi owned by the University of Northwestern Ohio was traveling west on U.S. 30 near Convoy Road. The semi, driven by Cameron McClellen, 20, Carrollton, KY, attempted to turn right on Convoy Road when it was rear-ended by a second semi, driven by Joseph Weese, Carey, Ohio.

Both semis came to a stop on the highway.

McClellen and two of his passengers, Christopher Curtis, 20, Lima, Ohio, and Jesse Carle, 20, Williamsport, Ohio, were all transported to Van Wert County Hospital and treated and released.

The instructor in the semi, Steven Trammell, 53, Ohio City, Ohio was not injured.

Weese, the driver of the second semi, was also transported to Van Wert County Hospital where he was treated and released.

Weese's semi sustained heavy damage. He was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance.

The training semi sustained moderate damage.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts except for the two passengers of the training semi. They were seated in the rear of the passenger cab and seatbelts were not available.

Portions of U.S. 30 were closed while crews cleaned up debris from the accident.
