FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Once again, the Summit City has been turned into Soccer City with the ShinDigZ National Soccer Festival underway at IPFW's Hefner Fields.
Some of the top men's college soccer programs are in Fort Wayne for the event including defending national champion Akron, national runner-up Louisville as well as other ranked teams like Indiana, Michigan, Duke and Creighton.
15 college teams in total made the trek to the Summit City.
In addition to the college games, there is plenty of high school action at the event. 30 high school teams were also part of the event this year.
Friday night, a record crowd of over 7,000 watched IU battle Duke at Hefner Field.
According to the teams in attendance, the level of competition keeps the coming back. The ShinDigZ National Soccer Festival has gained national recognition by Division I coaches as the premier preseason soccer event in the country.
