As of Wednesday afternoon the Mad Ants have a new man in charge as they've hired Joey Meyer as their new head coach.

Meyer comes to Fort Wayne with an impressive resume. The winningest coach in NBADL history, Meyer had previous stints with Asheville and Tulsa. He guided Asheville to back-to-back championships in 2003-04 & 2004-05.

Meyer expected to coach Mad Ants

Joey Meyer is expected to return to the NBA Development League as head coach of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, The Journal Gazette has learned.

Meyer may be best known for his work on the college level. In 12 seasons at DePaul he posted a 231-158 record. Meyer guided the Blue Demons to six 20-win season and  seven trips to the NCAA tournament. He was named the CBS Chevrolet Coach of the Year in 1987.

Meyer is the third head coach in three years of the Mad Ants franchise. Last season Jaren Jackson's club went 19-31, finishing in last place for the second straight season. Jackson had replaced Kent Davison midway through the 2007-08 season.
