Wild reassign struggling rookie Granlund to AHL

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have reassigned rookie forward Mikael (mee-KYLE') Granlund to their AHL affiliate.

The move was made on Tuesday before the Wild hosted the Anaheim Ducks.

Granlund started the season on the second line, but he has been scratched five times and has only one goal and five assists in 19 games. The Wild's first-round draft pick in 2010, Granlund had 21 points in 21 games for the Houston Aeros earlier this season before the lockout ended.

The 21-year-old scored in his NHL debut, but the 5-foot-10, 186-pound native of Finland has struggled to find a groove since then. Meanwhile, fellow rookie Charlie Coyle has been playing well on the first line, and another young player, Jason Zucker, has been thriving on the second line.
