FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Even though his baseball address may have changed, Northrop grad Eric Wedge always makes his way back to Fort Wayne during the offseason for his annual baseball camp.

Saturday at the ASH Centre, Wedge conducted his 7th annual baseball camp.  Anywhere from 300 to 400 kids combined participated in the skills, hitting and college exposure camps.

Wedge is coming off his first season as manager of the Mariners.  He led the Indians for seven seasons before being fired near the end of the 2009 season.  Wedge took 2010 off returning to the dugout last year.  The Mariners struggled through the season finishing 67-95.

Wedge is hoping for a better 2012 season saying there are some young guys who could really step in and help the ballclub win more games.  Wedge said the foundation was laid last season that can hopefully be built off of.

Despite being a Midwest native, Wedge says living on the West coast is different, but he and his family really enjoy it.  He says the Mariners' organization and the people of Seattle have been great helping with that transition.

The Mariners' first spring training game is March 3 against Oakland in Peoria, Arizona.
