HUNTINGTON, IN. - Huntington North graduate and Jefferson College shortstop Brett Wiley was picked in the 13th round by the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday in the annual MLB draft.

Wiley was the 420th overall selection.

Wiley just spent his first season at Jefferson, a junior college in Missouri. He originally signed with the University of Evansville out of high school but transferred after one season.

The latest stats found from this past season have Wiley hitting .409 with six home runs, 59 RBI, and 28 stolen bases.

Wiley played at Huntington North under coach Russ Degitz, who recently announced he has stepped down as baseball coach to spend more time with his family and pursue his career as a school administrator.
