FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - Walker Russell Jr. is likely to return to the Mad Ants for a fifth season a source close to the situation told NewsChannel 15 Sports on Friday. Russell Jr. was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

In five total seasons in the D-League (four in Fort Wayne) Russell Jr. has posted averages of 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 8.3 assists. He appeared in just 16 games with the Mad Ants last season before receiving a call-up from the Detroit Pistons - who ultimately signed the veteran guard through the remainder of the regular season. In 28 games with Detroit, Russell Jr. averaged three points and just over two assists per game.
