FORT WAYNE, IN. - NewsChannel 15 Sports is debuting a new segment - the Sunday Sit Down. Each week we'll go one-on-one with an individual from the world of sports and take you beyond the game.
Our first guest: former North Side basketball star Vernard Hollins. An All-State performer during his prep career, Hollins went onto a successful career at Wright State before beginning a professional odyssey that spanned the globe. His love for the game has led him to stops in Macedonia, Mexico, Turkey, Hungary, France and Switzerland. In 2010 he was named player of the year in the Swiss league.
More recently, Hollins has become a published author - penning the book "The Disease Didn't Kill The Dream". It touches on both his career in basketball and his relationship with his father who died in 1997 from complications with diabetes.
