Mad Anthonys Classic Opens At Sycamore

FORT WAYNE, IN. - The annual Mad Anthonys Classic debuted its new look format on Sunday afternoon with the first of two rounds at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.

Traditionally a one-day event with more of a celebrity pro-am feel, Mad Anthonys has transitioned to a two-day, 36-hole event featuring 12 LPGA pros competing for a $300,000 purse. The move - spearheaded by long-time Fort Wayne resident and LPGA Amanda Blumenherst - was made in hopes of making the Summit City enticing as a possible future stop on the pro tour.

Good weather and enthusiastic crowds greeted the first round of golfers who teed off at noon. Among the big names competing today, LPGA legend Nancy Lopez, Blumenherst and four individuals who have already claimed LPGA tour wins this year.
