FORT WAYNE, IN. - NewsChannel 15 Sports has learned that former Leo High School and Indiana Tech pitcher Brandon Alger has been called up by the TinCaps to join the team for the postseason. Alger - a San Diego Padres rookie - had been pitching with the Eugene Emeralds since being drafted in June.
In 15 appearances with Eugene, Alger posted a 4-1 record with a 2.32 ERA - the third best on the team for pitches with at least 40 innings pitched.
The TinCaps open the postseason at Parkview Field on Wednesday night when they host Lansing. Alger is expected to arrive in Fort Wayne by Tuesday.
