EASLEY, S.C. - A team made up of players from the Fort Wayne area is now 3-0 in pool play at the Big League World Series in South Carolina after winning 8-1 on Friday.
The District 10 team is representing the Central regional at the tournament. On Friday the Central team beat the West thanks to an all-around effort from Homestead grad Jake Weber. Weber hit a 3-run home run in the first inning and also threw five innings of scoreless baseball to earn the win on the mound.
The Central team continues pool play on Monday against the East at 7:30 p.m.
The top two teams in the U.S. pool play Tuesday with the winner facing the tournament's top international team on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. That game will be televised by ESPN.
