ANGOLA, IN. - Former Bishop Luers star and current Dallas Cowboy Anthony Spencer was back in his home state this weekend, hosting the 2012 RAS Football Camp at Trine University.

In between talking to kids and coaches in attendance, Spencer took some time to reflect on and discuss his new contract with the Cowboys. Dallas placed the franchise tag on Spencer a little over a month ago - signing the linebacker to a one-year $8.8 million deal.

The deal has proven to be both a gift and a curse for Spencer. While happy that the Cowboys are so interested in keeping him, the Purdue grad wants to security of a long-term contract. Despite his displeasure with that aspect of his current contract though, unlike many other franchise taggies, Spencer is still attending off-season workouts with the Cowboys. He says that decision was prompted by his desire to continue building a good relationship with new teammates and to help ensure he is ready for a playoff push this fall.
