Bad 2nd, 3rd quarters doom Mad Ants

Idaho avenges Friday loss, 106-99

BOISE, Id. - Armon Johnson, recently assigned from the Portland Trail Blazers, scored 23 points from the bench to help the Idaho Stampede (10-17) defeat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (13-15) 106-99 at Qwest Arena Saturday night. The Stampede went on a 26-6 run to end the third quarter which gave them a 20-point lead, their biggest of the night.

Starter Jermareo Davidson had a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Cedric Jackson also contributed with 14 points (six assists, seven rebounds). Willie Jenkins scored 19 points from the bench (three rebounds, three assists). Antoine Walker rounded out the leading scorers for Idaho with 11 points (seven rebounds, six assists) to give the Stampede five double-digit scorers.

The Stampede outscored Fort Wayne 57-35 in the second and third quarters before the Mad Ants went on a late run to notch 44 points in the final stanza.

Walker Russell scored 24 points for the Mad Ants, who also had five players scoring double digits. Darnell Lazare scored 20 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Starter Oliver Lafayette (17 points, 10-10 FT) scored double digits as well as Walker Russell, who had 24 points and seven assists.

The Stampede play the Reno Bighorns next weekend at Qwest Arena; both games tip-off at 7 p.m.
