Ants Fall To Maine... Again

The Maine Red Claws used a strong fourth quarter to defeat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 113-111 and win the three game series in Fort Wayne.

 
The Mad Ants got off to a quick start and led 27-18 at the end of the first period holding the Red Claws to just 34% shooting from the field. The Red Claws turned up their offense and outscored the Mad Ants 31-28 in the second behind Craig Brackins 15 first half points. However, the Mad Ants held on to a 6 point lead at the half 55-49.
 
The third period saw 6 ties in a back and forth battle as the Mad Ants held tight to a 82-79 lead.  The Red Claws hung around in the fourth until Kenny Hayes scored 11 straight points for Maine to give them the lead.  The Red Claws built a 7 point lead with 2:30 left in the game and would hold on to that lead to finish the game.
 
Brackins led the Red Claws with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Hayes finished with a double-double of his own with 21 points and 10 assists. Morris Almond and Lawrence Hill contributed 19 and 18 respectively.
 
Ron Howard in his first game back from a wrist injury, led all scorers with 27 points for the Mad Ants. Cameron Jones added 24 and Darnell Lazare finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
