FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Mad Ants (10-16) controlled the fourth quarter to push them past the Springfield Armor (5-18), 94- 81 in their first home game in over two weeks.
After the first twelve minutes of play both teams were locked in at 25 apiece. JamesOn Curry tallied 8 points in the second quarter for the Armor to give them the 47-44 lead at the half.
Rashad Anderson countered that with eight points of his own for the Mad Ants as the two teams kept it close throughout the third. The home team led by only two going into the final quarter of play. The Mad Ants held on to the lead, outscoring the Armor 28-14 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.
The Mad Ants had six players score in double figures led by Oliver Lafayette who finished with 18 points and 6 assists. Anderson and Rob Kurz both finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Rod Wilmont contributed 14 points and tremendous defensive energy off the bench.
TJ Cummings led all scorers with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Armor. In his first game back after receiving a Gatorade Call-up to the Los Angeles Clippers, JamesOn Curry finished with 18 points and 8 assists.
The Mad Ants are back home on Sunday night against the Iowa Energy, and Springfield will travel to Erie Saturday Night to take on the BayHawks.
