FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Bishop Luers standout Jaylon Smith was presented with the 2012 Indiana Mr. Football award Friday night between a basketball double-header at Luers. The Indianapolis Star also presented Smith with the coveted "number one" jersey, awarded annually to Mr. Football.

Additionally, Luers announced they are retiring the no. 9 jersey worn by Smith. He becomes the second Luers athlete to have his number retired, following in the footsteps of basketball standout Deshaun Thomas.

A Notre Dame recruit, Smith will sign with the Irish on Wednesday. He will also be named a Parade All-American on Sunday.
