FORT WAYNE, IN. - While the afterglow of a 9th league championship continues to bring smiles to the faces of Komets fans - some are already looking to the future. There are more questions than answers at this point.
The team's two-year contract with the CHL has expired meaning the franchise could be on the move. There's been speculation that the Komets could move up to the ECHL next season, but team president Michael Franke hasn't tipped his hand to this point. He did say however, that by June 1st a final decision will be in place regarding the team's league affiliation for next year.
There's also the matter of head coach Al Sims whose contract has expired. The team said several weeks ago that a standing offer was on the table, but Sims opted to hold off on discussing things until after the playoffs. On Thursday night at the team's annual jersey auction he stated that after several discussions with the front office, he and management are on the same page.
