FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - Following a 5-3 win at Kalamazoo on Friday night, the Komets couldn't maintain momentum heading into the Christmas holiday. The K's gave up four second period goals on their way to a 5-2 loss at home against Trenton.

The teams played to a scoreless tie through the first period with stellar goaltending proving the major storyline. But the Komets ran into power play woes in the second. Marcel Noebels opened the scoring less than three minutes into the period on a Titans powerplay. The Komets answered less than three minutes later when J.M. Rizk set up Kaleigh Schrock on an easy equalizer - but things went south from there.

Just over one minute after the Komets tied the match, Phil DeSimone put Trenton back on top with a sharp wrister. Jacob Drewiske would score a short handed goal later in the frame, before Stephen Schultz added another power play goal before intermission.

The teams traded one goal each in the third period, with Brandon Marino providing the Komets second strike - but in a losing effort.

The Komets return to the ice Thursday when they host Toledo.
