FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - The Komets dropped their third straight contest Saturday night, losing at home to Evansville 5-0.
The match was scoreless until late in the first period when the IceMen's Nathan Moon scooped up a loose puck in front of the net for an easy goal and a 1-0 lead. Evansville added a power play goal midway through the second when Josh Beaulieu beat Charlie Effinger on a point blank one-timer.
The third period proved to be the difference though as Jason Dale, Matt Gens and Trent Vogelhuber all found the back of the net for Evansville. In all, Effinger was peppered with 27 shots, stopping 22 of them. Paul Karpowich meanwhile recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 23 shots he faced.
