The Komets appear to have a replacement goaltender in the wake of Nick Boucher's hip surgery that will keep him out until at least January. According to Eliteprospects.com, Charlie Effinger has signed with Fort Wayne.
This news comes in the wake of discussions between the former Missouri goalie and the Komets, as well as Effinger announcing he would not return to the Mavericks next season, but sign with an ECHL team. The Independence Examiner in Missouri even went so far as to write that Effinger announced he would be joining the Komets next season.
The 26-year-old was second in the CHL last season with a .923 save percentage and led the league in saves overall. He proved particularly troublesome for the Komets offense in the Turner Cup Finals last year, helping to push the series to a decisive seventh game before the K's advanced en route to the Presidents' Cup Championship.
