The Komets announced Monday that defenseman Jamie Milam has agreed to terms and will join the Komets for the remainder of the 2012-13 campaign.

Milam, 28, will be joining the Komets for his third stint after helping the Komets to the CHL Presidents’ Cup Championship last year.  The veteran blue liner started this season splitting time between Cardiff of the EIHL (England) and GKS of the Poland elite league.

“By signing Jamie for the rest of the season and playoffs we are reaching back to last year’s championship team,” said Komet general manager David Franke.  “Jamie is a proven player in the ECHL as well as the other leagues he has played in and he will quarterback our power play which is an area we need help.”

Milam first appeared with the Komets while making his pro debut in March of 2006 after completing four seasons (2002-2006) with Northern Michigan in the NCAA.  The Lake Orion, Michigan native won his first CHL Championship while a member of Bossier-Shreveport in 2010-11 before joining the Komets for 2011-12 appeariang in all 66 regular season games leading Fort Wayne defensemen with 20 goals and adding 21 assists for 41 points. Milam also skated all 18 playoff games contributing three goals and 12 points en route to his second Presidents’ Cup Crown.

There is a possibility Milam will meet with the Komets in Colorado for the weekend and could enter the lineup in time for Friday night’s game.

Komets head for Colorado—The Komets will skate a three-game series at Colorado this week.  The Komets face the Eagles Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center.  All three games faceoff at 9:05pm ET.

The next Komet home game is Saturday, Feb. 16 when the IceMen from Evansville visit for a 7:30pm faceoff at the Memorial Coliseum.
