FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Komets play three crucial games this weekend as they continue to work recently re-signed defenseman Jamie Milam into the fold.
Milam, in his third career stint with the Komets, was signed a week and a half ago. He was previously playing this season overseas, but was a big contributor to Fort Wayne's CHL championship game last season. Milam scored 20 goals last year in Fort Wayne, including 11 on the powerplay. He's been brought in to help shore up a special teams unit that has struggled all season.
The Komets also got goalie Charlie Effinger back from bereavement leave. The move allowed the Komets to cut emergency back-up goaltender Larkin Saalfrank. Saalfrank was signed on Monday and backed-up Marco Cousineau in Tuesday's 2-1 loss at Cincinnati.
The Komets play at Evansville tomorrow night and host the Icemen on Saturday. Sunday the Komets will travel to Toledo to face the Walleye.
