The Komets fell to rival Muskegon Friday night at War Memorial Coliseum thanks to a third period goal from Brian Bicek, 3-2.
The game was tied at 1-1 after goals from Muskegon's John DiPace and Fort Wayne's Leo Thomas.
Sean O'Connor netted a power play goal in the second period to give the K's a 2-1. Muskegon would respond with a goal from Todd Robinson to tie the game at two heading into the final frame.
With 5:10 left in the third Bicek would score the game winner.
Komets goaltender Tim Haun stopped 22 of 25 shots.
The K's hit the road for the weekend, playing at Bloomington on Saturday and at Quad City on Sunday.
