The Komets scored first on Wednesday night but gave up two unanswered goals in the third period to lose to Dayton, 2-1.
Konstantin Shafranov batted in a rebound during a powerplay to give the K's a 1-0 lead late in the first period.
Jonathon Ornelas evened the score mid-way through the third period. Just a few minutes later Dayton's Mike Vaskivuo found the back of the net, setting the final at 2-1.
Komets goaltender Nick Boucher stopped 26 of 28 shots he faced.
The Komets have Thursday off but host Port Huron on Friday.
