Thomas scores game-winning goal

PORT HURON, Mich. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Komets extended their winning streak to four games by beating Port Huron Wednesday night, 4-3.

The Komets got on the board just 1:30 into the game as Justin Chwedoruk would give the K's a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal. With 15:33 gone in the period Brandon Naurato would score a powerplay goal for Port Huron to even the game at one.

3:58 into the second period Leo Thomas would score to give the K's a 2-1 lead. At 11:35 Mike Gershon would tie the game again at two.

Port Huron would take it's first lead of the game 17:06 into the second period as Cody Hamilton would net a powerplay goal to give the IceHawks a 3-2 advantage. At 18:46 in the period rookie Kaleigh Schrock would even things up again with a goal to make it three-all.

Leo Thomas would score the game-winner just four minutes into the third period as the K's would hold on to win, 4-3.

Fort Wayne goalie Nick Boucher saved 30 of 33 shots.

The K's return to action Friday night at home against Quad City.
