FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Komets get the weekend started as host to the league-leading Muskegon Lumberjacks tonight at 8:00. The Jacks (9-3-0-1) lead the IHL with 19 points after stopping the visiting Port Huron Icehawks Wednesday 5-3. Tonight's appearance with be the second of six this season at the Coliseum for Muskegon and gives the Komets a chance to avenge their 2-1 loss last Sunday at Muskegon.
After tonight's home game the Komets travel to Illinois for games at Bloomington Saturday at 8:05pm (FW time) and Quad City Sunday at 5:05pm (FW time).
Tonight's Komet home game and Saturday night's game at Bloomington will be broadcast on WOWO AM 1190 while Sunday's game at Quad City will be aired on ESPN Radio AM 1380. All Komet games broadcast are also webcast at www.komets.com at Comcast KometCast.
Boucher on I.R.....the Komets announced today that goaltender Nick Boucher has been placed on 30-day injured reserve. Boucher will be eligible to return from I.R. in time for the Komet's home game Dec. 18 against Quad City. Tyler Sims will serve as emergency backup goaltender for the Komets.
Chwedoruk added to roster.....winger Justin Chwedoruk has been added to the Komet roster in time for this weekend's games. Chwedoruk, 25, is entering his fifth season as a pro and previously faced the Komets as a member of the UHL's Quad City Mallards during the 2006-07 season. The St. Albert, Alberta native skated stints with Stockton and Dayton in the ECHL last season (61gp, 14g, 36pts).
Bertram activated.....defenseman Kevin Bertram has been activated from injured reserve and is expected to see action this weekend. Bertram was placed on I.R. after skating the first game of the season.
Whitehead released.....the Komets also announced today that
rookie center Travis Whitehead has been placed on waivers.
Appearing in the first seven games of the season, Whitehead scored
a goal and registered four penalty minutes.
