Komets Struggle In 5-2 Loss To Toledo

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Toledo scored four goals in a row to start the second period to doom the Komets as Fort Wayne fell 5-2 Thursday night at War Memorial Coliseum.

At 4:52 in the second frame Kyle Rogers beat Kenny Reiter to break a 0-0 tie. Less than four minutes later Rogers would score again, making it 2-0 in favor of the Walleye.

At 13:11 in the second period Max Campbell would score on a powerplay to give Toledo a 3-0 advantage. Campbell would score again on a powerplay at 17:59 as Toledo built a 4-0 lead.

Garrett Klotz would get Fort Wayne on the board with a powerplay goal with just seven seconds left in the second period to cut the lead to 4-1.

Josh Brittain would score a powerplay goal at 2:02 in the third frame to make it 4-2. Campbell scored his third goal of the game at 5:46 to set the final at 5-2.

Reiter stopped 33 of 38 shots in goal for the Komets.

Kent Simpson stopped 24 of 26 shots for Toledo.

The Komets will play tomorrow night at Kalamazoo.
