MUSKEGON, Mich. (WANE) - In their first meeting since last Saturday when two melees erupted, Muskegon handed the Komets their first loss in five games Sunday, 2-1.
There was plenty of anticipation for the rematch after Brad MacMillan and Rob Big Snake each exited the penalty boxes in Fort Wayne earning hefty suspensions in a Komets win over a week ago.
Sunday's game would not be as eventful as far as the fighting goes. There was only one major fight to speak of in the game between Blair Stayzer and Jason Lawmaster.
Muskegon jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Komets finally got on the scoreboard. Kaleigh Schrock lit the lamp in the third period, but that was all the scoring for the Komets. The K's were 0-for-5 on the powerplay Sunday.
These two teams will meet at the Memorial Coliseum Friday night in Fort Wayne when the Komets host Muskegon at 8 p.m.
