INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (WANE) - For the third straight game to start the second half of the season, the Komets have come out on the losing end this time falling at Missouri 4-3 in a shootout Sunday.
The Komets trailed 1-0 in the first, but got the equalizer from Colin Chaulk with :48 left in the period.
In the second, Jamie Milam and Bobby Chaumont each netted goals as the Komets held a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.
The Komets had never lost this season heading into the third period. Until Sunday.
Missouri scored two goals early in the third period to tie the game.
After no score in overtime, the game went to a shootout where Sebastien Thinel scored the game winner.
Gerry Festa took the loss in net for the Komets.
The K's return home Friday to host Tulsa at 8:00 p.m.
