EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WANE) - Hopefully the start of the second half of the season isn't any indication on what to expect from the Komets.
On the road at Evansville Saturday night, the Komets were nearly shutout in a 3-1 loss, but a goal by Artem Podshendyalov with :25 remaining avoided a goose-egg for the K's.
Regardless, the game still goes down as a loss for the K's who drop to 0-2 to start the second half of the season.
Brian Bicek and John Ronan each netted first period goals as the IceMen jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on the Komets.
Nicklas Lindberg would add a second period goal for Evansville.
Despite holding Evansville 0-for-5 on the powerplay, the Komets were just 1-for-7 with a man-advantage in the game.
Nick Boucher stopped 34 of 37 shots in the loss.
The Komets travel to Missouri Sunday.
